Quantum [monotube adjustable, special order] around £2800.00

SSL Engineers have worked with SPAX to create the damper characteristics we need for the RS and the 5L to give good ride and handling. Indeed the ride is a good as we achieved with Bilstein and when hardened with the adjuster then the car is well suited to hard work laden or track days.
Photo on the far right shows the installation of SPAX adjustable dampers in the 5L, narrow chassis! The SPAX units still take the twin springs to give a progressive spring rate and are of course also adjustable for ride height to suit all the different models, though rear axle loading is not that significantly different between the models.

6. SPAX dampers for 'Rutherford rear tele conversion on Morgan. A Morgan driver wished to exchange his Koni rear dampers fitted to his Rutherford tele conversion on his 1954 +4 with new tuned SPAX adjustable dampers. Based on SPAX experience with the lovely Morgan ARP4 and the SSL with the 5L and other Morgan rear suspension projects SPAX built in a damper setting that suits the car very well.
"The Spax shock absorbers are a vast improvement on the Koni Classics. The quality of the ride overall is far better. In particular the jarring on bounce is eliminated. The Plus 4 is now giving a superior ride."
Note this car is also fitted with the RS front suspension system that suits the car very well, despite having a 2.1 litre cast iron engine up front.

7. SPAX Rear adjustable dampers for Morgans.
SSL have worked with SPAX to develop the settings of our own specification of rear dampers that will directly replace dampers that bolt to the cross car 'damper hoop'. These will complement the RS (Refinement System) front suspension and also work well with the standard front suspension. These are different settings from those sold by the Morgan factory and their dealers. The settings have made the most of what we have learnt on road and track by tuning damper settings for Quantum and Bilstein on Morgans.
Price around £200 a pair plus post and VAt. Please ask for a quote.
9. Discs for friction dampers for Morgan 4/4 Series 1.
No stiction, thus now allows the suspension to absorb road surface degradations and flow over undulations, significant improvement in ride and handling.
SSL will supply discs to pattern or dimensions.
5. Morgan Panhard Rod, new unique design.
This replaces the U bolt plate under the leaf spring so does not clamp onto the leaf spring as the clampo affects the leaf spring compliance.
The Panhard cross member is there to ensure that the side loads that the rod takes are distributed to both sides of the chassis; this is actually the cross member used on the SSL 5L rear suspension system.
Currently only available for the 2 seater and the 4 seaters that do not have the battery behind the axle. Ask first.
Available from Morgan dealers and specialists such as Librands
Suggested retail £175 +VAT.

What is being said about SSL Morgan RS & 5L by satisfied customers
The system is very well made and fits so neatly under the parcel shelf. I have the RS kit fitted up front with slightly tweaked damper settings
I drove the car hard over many miles of open roads I know, including hills and bumpy bends. It has really transformed the car's ride and handling, truly impressive. The rear suspension will now absorb speed bumps with no crashes or jolts, but more importantly is how well it copes with bumps at speed and its ability to put down the power on fast bumpy corners up hill and down. I am so pleased.
Trip to Corsica and back: Very impressed, the ride is certainly improved and much smoother. The rear was much better, coping with most that even rough roads in Southern France could throw at it. On smooth roads the handling was a revelation with much better turn in. In spite of a heavy case the prop shaft never hit the transmission tunnel (unlike with the old set up). Bump steer was also minimised, certainly much better than with the old front and rear set up. In spite of driving fairly hard there was never any time that the rear did not feel very secure.
All good. I have done 800 miles including a week in France, 2-up with luggage, and a trip up a cart track courtesy of the Satnav! Handling is much better with precise turn in and it goes where you point it. It stays on line well with only severe bumps causing any waver. This is much improved. No axle tramp or tyre squeal on acceleration. The ride is much better, not hitting bump stops and the same loaded.
Tested on the road we found the behaviour is significantly better, especially with bumps in the corners and changes of direction. The impression is that it has much more adherence, even on the wheel that is not under load.
The 5L harmonizes quite well with the “upped” power/torque of my 3.7 - no tramping, no sidestepping even with “full load” applied.
A revelation! Absolutely NO question about the RS, this seems a “must” to me, for each and every trad Morgan – it´s a no-brainer to me!
Comfortable the whole mods are indeed – almost to the point of me thinking “can it be this is still a trad Morgan i´m charging along in?”
So full recommendation for both the RS and the 5L system from my side – I do not regret the work and money spent on it!
